Perfectly Lovely

“What do you like about Mama?” My husband, sensing my heavy heart, candidly asked our five-year-old during lunch.

A sheepish smile widened between his chubby cheeks. “That I love her!” He blushed.

“That she’s my mom! And that she’s a believer.” My eight- year-old daughter inserted decidedly into the conversation.

Their simple responses pierced through all the negative self-talk cluttering my mind and shook alive the realization that my worth isn’t defined by what I look like, how much I accomplish, how many friends I have, how well I keep in touch with said friends, or what a “good mom” I am.

My worth is all wrapped up in LOVE.

“Out of the mouths of babes You have perfected praise.” (Matt. 21:16) How very true! What greater praise could I receive than that I am LOVED.

And LOVED I am.

“God showed His LOVE toward (me) in that while (I) was still a sinner Christ died for (me).” Romans 5:8

“Behold what manner of LOVE the Father has given unto (me)- that (I) should be called a child of God!” 1 John 3:1

“Having chosen (me) in Him before the foundation of the world that I should be holy and without blame before Him in LOVE; having predestined (me) unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to Himself, according the good pleasure of His will, to the praise of the glory of His grace in which He has made (me) accepted and beLOVED.” Ephesians 1:4-6

LOVE is the only thing that truly conveys value. Think about it! The worth you attach to something completely depends upon the depth of feeling you have for it.

“Greater LOVE has no one that this; that a man lay down his life for his friend.” John 15:13.

The greatest possible LOVE has been lavished on me- and with it the greatest possible value and worth, through Jesus Christ!

Feeling down about yourself? Re-read those Scriptures and put your name in the parenthesis. You are wrapped up in LOVE too!
